If you’ve spent any time watching gay travel content on YouTube, you’ve probably heard whispers about Sauna Mania — specifically its infamous gay sauna foam party that takes over Bangkok during big weekends like Pride and White Party season.

I’d heard about it too. From other creators. From friends. From people who looked me dead in the eye and said, “You just have to experience it.”

So when I found myself in Bangkok during Pride weekend and realized Sauna Mania was hosting one of their regular foam parties, I figured:
Why not?

Let’s just say… expectations were low. The reality? Completely unhinged — in the best way.

What Is Sauna Mania?

Sauna Mania is one of the most well-known Bangkok gay saunas, popular with both locals and international visitors. It’s especially famous for hosting large-scale themed nights — with the foam party being the most legendary.

Unlike the ultra-exclusive foam parties tied specifically to White Party Bangkok, Sauna Mania actually hosts foam parties fairly regularly, which made me assume this one might be a little toned down.

Gurl, I was wrong.

Entry Price & First Impressions

I arrived on a Sunday evening around 6:00 PM, right after the Bangkok Pride parade.

  • Entrance fee: 500 THB

  • (I could be wrong, but I think during the White Party weekend pricing is usually higher.)

Even that early, there was already a noticeable crowd forming — always a good sign. The energy felt anticipatory, slightly chaotic, and very… ready.

The crowd skewed heavily Asian (Thai, Chinese, Taiwanese, Malaysian Chinese), with a healthy mix of international visitors sprinkled throughout. Body-wise, it was a refreshingly broad spectrum: fit guys, lean guys, everyday bodies, twinks, beefier builds — genuinely something for everyone.

That diversity alone already made the night feel more welcoming than some other gay saunas I’ve visited.

The Crowd & Overall Vibe

Despite how packed things became later, one thing really stood out to me:
The vibe was surprisingly respectful.

Yes, it was crowded. Yes, people were very hands-on. But compared to some gay saunas I’ve experienced elsewhere in Southeast Asia, boundaries here were generally observed. When someone wasn’t interested, most people moved on fairly quickly.

That alone made the experience far more enjoyable.

The space filled up fast — and by the time the foam party started, the sauna was absolutely buzzing.

The Foam Party Setup

The foam party takes place in the balcony area, which normally contains platforms, mattresses, and enclosed spaces. For the event, the layout is reworked to manage crowd flow:

  • A large central platform people circle around

  • Raised beds and platforms at the far end

  • Floor-level mattresses lining the sides

Once the foam starts, the space becomes dense. Think circuit party energy, but indoors, steamy, and far more intimate.

There is very little personal space, which is part of the appeal — but also something to mentally prepare for if you’re new to this kind of environment.

Staff, Glow Sticks, and How It All Works

One detail that surprised me was the presence of staff members clearly marked with glow sticks. They help manage the space and also participate in "keeping the energy flowing" if you know what I mean.

Important note:
While some attendees hope to interact with staff, it’s not guaranteed — and selection is very much discretionary. If that’s something you’re hoping for, timing and confidence matter, but expectations should stay realistic.

Also worth knowing:
The foam party itself lasts roughly one hour, so everything happens fast.

Crowds, Comfort, and Personal Boundaries

With how packed the foam party gets, constant body contact is unavoidable. Sometimes it’s fun — sometimes it’s a little overwhelming.

What I appreciated most was that Sauna Mania’s foam party felt more socially aware than similar events I’ve experienced elsewhere. Persistent behavior was the exception, not the rule.

That made it easier to relax, observe, engage (or disengage), and just enjoy the spectacle.

And yes — even if you’re mostly watching, it’s still wildly entertaining.

After the Foam Party Ends

Once the hour is up, the lights come on, and everyone is ushered out for a rinse. What surprised me most?

The night wasn’t over.

Many guests returned to other areas of the sauna afterward, and the dark rooms remained busy well into the evening. Even more surprising was the long line of people still waiting to get in after the foam party had already ended.

Lesson learned:
If you have stamina, Sauna Mania on foam party nights delivers — for hours.

Is Sauna Mania’s Foam Party Worth It?

In one word: Yes.

Especially if:

  • You’re visiting Bangkok on a weekend in general.

  • You enjoy high-energy, social environments

  • You want to experience a legendary Bangkok gay sauna event

  • You’re curious about Thailand’s gay nightlife beyond bars and clubs

It’s chaotic, crowded, sweaty, and undeniably memorable.

While I personally still prefer smaller, more social home parties, Sauna Mania’s gay sauna foam party is easily one of the wildest nightlife experiences I’ve had — and absolutely earns its reputation.

Final Thoughts

If you’re in Bangkok and see Sauna Mania announce a foam party on their social channels, take it as your sign.

Go.
Experience it.
And decide for yourself.

Just… maybe don’t schedule anything important the next morning.
