Hans Sauna Review + XL Club & Soi 13 Review (Taiwan Pride Edition)
Taiwan is one of the most progressive countries in Asia — and visiting during Pride weekend? Iconic. Naturally, I had to explore some of the most talked-about gay saunas in Taiwan to see if they lived up to the hype.
After personal recommendations, Google reviews, and my own very scientific “vibes check,” I visited:
XL Club
Hans Sauna
Soi 13
Important disclaimer: I went during Pride weekend, so the crowds were likely larger than usual. Your weekday Tuesday experience may differ.
Here’s my full breakdown of facilities, crowd, pricing, and whether each place is actually worth your money.
XL Club Review
Pricing & Entry
200 NTD entry
100 NTD deposit
Underwear required (no full nudity allowed)
You’re given a key and padlock — very old school.
Out of the three, XL Club is definitely the smallest.
Facilities
1 steam room (no dry sauna)
Showers
Lounge area
Small gym downstairs
Private bathrooms with detachable shower heads
Two small dark corridors
The space is compact. Functional, but compact.
If you’re staying in a hostel and need privacy to freshen up, the detachable shower heads are honestly a practical bonus.
The Crowd
This is where XL Club shines.
The highest proportion of gym-fit guys I’ve seen in any Asian sauna. Younger crowd. Athletic builds. Strong chest energy everywhere.
If your type is muscular, gym-going, thick boys — you’ll probably enjoy the visual buffet.
However… the vibe felt competitive and slightly cold.
During my visit, attempts to show interest were met with dramatic recoil energy. Not the polite “walk away” rejection. More like “how dare you.” It happened more than once.
That said, if you look like the crowd — you’ll probably thrive here.
Verdict
Best for:
Gym lovers
Younger athletic crowd
Voyeuristic browsing
Not ideal if:
You prefer warmer social energy
You don’t fit the dominant body type
Hans Sauna Review
Pricing
400 NTD
Large and small towel included
Immediately felt like the biggest and most spacious of the three.
Facilities
Hans Sauna wins for layout and comfort.
Large steam room
Spacious dark room (perfect level of lighting)
Balcony access
Lounge with TV and sofas
Theater-style nap room with blankets
Karaoke room
Clean showers
Easy single-floor navigation
This place is hygienic, well-designed, and easy to explore. Not deathly dark. Not maze-like chaos. Just comfortable.
Design-wise? My favorite.
The Crowd
Hans Sauna leans mature.
Think:
Bears
Daddies
Bigger bodies
30s–50s dominant age range
There were other body types present, but the primary demographic was clearly mature, chubby, bear energy.
If that’s your type? You will be fed.
If not? You might admire the facilities more than the crowd.
Verdict
Best for:
Bears & daddies
Mature crowd
Clean, spacious, comfortable sauna experience
If I could teleport a different crowd into this building, it would be unstoppable.
Soi 13 Review
Pricing
800 NTD (expensive)
Two small towels included
Later, I learned some visitors were charged even higher. That inconsistency raises concerns. Transparent pricing matters.
Facilities
Soi 13 feels like XL Club and Hans fused together.
Steam room
Dry sauna
Hot and cold jacuzzis
Spacious dark room
Private maze-style rooms
Glory-hole style setups
Lounge area
The dark room here is ideal lighting: enough to see faces, enough to maintain mystery.
It’s large, fun to explore, and structured well.
The Crowd
Best overall mix.
Mid-20s to 30s dominant
Muscular guys
Some mature daddies
Diverse body types
Most ethnic diversity (likely Pride factor)
Out of all three, this had the best balance.
Also — I wasn’t treated like an insect for showing interest. Which, you know, is nice.
But… The Price
At 800–1000 NTD, it’s pushing it.
Especially when compared to other Asian saunas that offer more for less.
Facilities are good. Crowd is good. But pricing transparency matters. That affects my recommendation.
Verdict
Best crowd mix overall.
But price inconsistency makes it hard to fully endorse.
Final Comparison: Which Gay Sauna in Taiwan Is Best?
XL Club
✔️ Best for gym lovers

Hans Sauna
✔️ Best facilities & layout
✔️ Cleanest feeling
✔️ Bear/daddy heaven

If I had to pick purely based on personal enjoyment during Pride:
