Jay Spa Saigon Review: A Gay Spa in Ho Chi Minh City

A handful of you told me that Jay Spa Saigon was one of the better gay spas in Ho Chi Minh City and that I absolutely needed to check it out.

So naturally… I listened.

Because I do love taking recommendations from you guys.

But after finally visiting, I have to ask:

What exactly were y’all experiencing that I apparently wasn’t?

My visit to this gay spa in Saigon wasn’t terrible. But it also wasn’t amazing either.

If I had to describe it in one phrase, it would be:

violently average.

That said, my experience also revealed something important about the gay spa scene in Ho Chi Minh City, and it’s probably the main reason why I rarely visit them anymore.

The Problem With Most Gay Spas in Ho Chi Minh City

After visiting several gay spas in Saigon, I’ve realized something.

The experience is extremely inconsistent.

Unlike professional massage chains in other countries, many gay spas in HCM don’t seem to have a standardized training system.

That means:

  • The quality depends entirely on the masseur

  • Staff frequently change locations

  • Your favorite masseur may disappear within a month

  • Even the same person might perform differently on different days

So when someone asks:

“What’s the best gay spa in Ho Chi Minh City?”

My honest answer is…

It’s impossible to say.

Because unless you personally try every single masseur in the building, your experience is always a bit of a gamble.

And that’s exactly what happened at Jay Spa Saigon.

First Impressions of Jay Spa Saigon

When I first walked into Jay Spa, the first thing I noticed was the scent.

The entire lobby smelled very citrusy and floral.

It was a bit strong, but personally I enjoy those kinds of scents, so I didn’t mind it.

The receptionist greeted me and offered a bottle of water before asking if it was my first visit.

After confirming it was, he handed me an iPad menu where I could browse the available masseurs.

Each profile included:

  • Name

  • Height

  • Weight

  • Two photos

Very much in that classic Vietnamese “money boy Photoshop” aesthetic that anyone living in Vietnam will instantly recognize.

Choosing a Masseur

Looking through the list, I noticed something pretty quickly.

Most of the staff leaned toward the slimmer, twinkier body type.

So if that’s your preference, Jay Spa Ho Chi Minh City might actually be a good fit for you.

Now, being the proud member of the “titty appreciation society” that I am, I naturally picked the tallest and thickest guy available.

I chose their basic Thai massage package, which costs:

250,000 VND

One Thing J Spa Does Well: Transparent Pricing

One thing I genuinely appreciated about Jay Spa Saigon was the clear pricing structure.

They openly explained the minimum tip requirements and optional services.

For example:

  • Basic minimum tip: 200,000 VND

  • Additional services: clearly listed

  • Higher tier services: higher suggested tips

This level of transparency is actually rare among gay spas in HCM, where extra services are often negotiated privately.

So credit where credit is due — that part was handled well.

Inside the Massage Rooms

The building itself felt very typical of Vietnamese architecture.

After going upstairs, you reach a narrow hallway with massage rooms on both sides.

The spa décor tries to lean toward luxury aesthetics, with:

  • marble textures

  • gold accents

  • dim lighting

But the rooms themselves were fairly simple.

Before starting the massage, guests are asked to take a shower.

A Quick Note About Vietnamese Bathrooms

If you’re visiting Vietnam for the first time, you may notice something about bathrooms here.

They can be… wet.

Many bathrooms combine the shower and toilet in the same space, so water tends to splash everywhere.

It’s perfectly normal in many Asian homes, but it can be surprising for first-time visitors.

The Catfish Moment

Now here’s where things started going downhill.

When my masseur arrived, I immediately noticed something.

He looked completely different from the photos.

Different face.

Different body type.

Different everything.

According to the listing:

  • Height: around 180 cm

  • Weight: 76 kg

But when I stood next to him…

We were basically the same height and build.

Now don’t get me wrong — being smaller isn’t the problem.

But false advertising is a massive turn-off.

It immediately killed the mood because I felt like I had been catfished.

And unfortunately, this isn’t uncommon at many gay spas in Saigon.

The Massage Experience

To his credit, the masseur was very friendly.

He tried to make conversation and did his best to ease the awkward tension.

But the massage technique itself felt… rough.

The best way I can describe it is:

like getting a massage from a confident but clueless straight guy at the gym.

Very strong pressure.

Not much finesse.

At times his knuckles were pressing directly into bone instead of muscle.

Some moments were fine.

Others were just… painful.

The Missing Sensual Build-Up

At higher-end spas — like some I’ve visited in Thailand — massages often build gradually.

They start slow.

Gentle movements.

Gradually increasing intensity.

What I jokingly call the “inner thigh suspense technique.”

But here, everything felt abrupt.

One moment it’s a shoulder massage.

The next moment it’s suddenly… somewhere else.

There wasn’t much transition.

The Staff Were Actually Very Nice

Despite the average massage experience, the staff themselves were genuinely kind.

When I returned to the lobby, the receptionist once again apologized for asking me to delete my footage earlier.

They even joked around and teased me a bit before I left, which was actually pretty charming.

That friendliness is definitely one of J Spa’s strongest qualities.

Final Verdict: Jay Spa Saigon

So, would I recommend J Spa Ho Chi Minh City?

Here’s my honest breakdown.

Pros

✔ Transparent pricing
✔ Friendly staff
✔ Relaxed atmosphere
✔ Good option if you prefer slimmer masseurs

Cons

✘ Masseur profiles may be misleading
✘ Massage quality varies
✘ Experience depends heavily on the individual staff member

Overall, J Spa Saigon isn’t bad.

But it also isn’t exceptional.

It’s simply another average gay spa in Ho Chi Minh City.

Gay Spa vs Gay Sauna in HCMC

These days, I personally prefer visiting a gay sauna in HCM instead of a massage spa.

Why?

Because at least with a gay sauna, you know exactly what you're getting.

No surprises.

No catfishing.

Just a straightforward experience.
