Sauna Mania Review: Is This Bangkok Sauna Worth Visiting?
After traveling to Thailand three times in one year, you would think I’d have already visited Sauna Mania Bangkok.
But somehow… every single time I tried to go, something stopped me. One time I forgot cash. Another time I ran out of time. At one point it genuinely felt like the universe was blocking me from entering.
Well, not anymore.
I am proud to announce that I am now officially a Sauna Maniac.
In this Sauna Mania review, I’ll break down:
the facilities at Mania Sauna Bangkok
whether the negative online reviews are accurate
what the crowd is like
and how it compares to another popular Bangkok sauna
If you’re planning a trip and looking for the best bangkok sauna, here’s everything you need to know before visiting.
Sauna Mania Bangkok Entrance Price and Location
I visited Sauna Mania at 4:00 PM on a Sunday.
The entrance price was around 420 Thai Baht. However, prices can increase during major holidays or festivals. For example, during Songkran, I was quoted over 600 Baht.
So if you’re visiting Bangkok during peak season, expect slightly higher entry prices.
After paying the entrance fee, you receive:
a towel
a locker key
a padlock for your locker
The system is pretty old-school, but it gets the job done.
Facilities at Mania Sauna Bangkok
Like most Bangkok sauna venues, Sauna Mania offers a mix of relaxation areas and spa-style amenities.
Locker Rooms
The locker room is simple but functional. You store your belongings using the provided padlock before entering the main areas of the sauna.
Nothing fancy, but perfectly usable.
Steam Room and Sauna
The sauna and steam rooms are fairly standard.
They’re comparable to what you’d find in many gay sauna Bangkok locations.
The steam room is slightly larger than expected, and both spaces were consistently busy in the evening.
Onsen and Hot Tub Area
There is also an onsen-style hot tub area, which is a nice addition.
The only confusing part is that the sign says it opens at 7:00 PM, but when I visited it actually opened around 6:00–6:30 PM.
So if you're visiting earlier in the day, just know you might need to wait a bit before it becomes available.
Gym and Relaxation Areas
Sauna Mania also includes:
an indoor gym
two balcony relaxation areas
outdoor seating
The balconies are surprisingly spacious and provide plenty of room to sit and relax.
If you enjoy more open-air relaxation spaces, this is something Sauna Mania does quite well.
The Famous Dark Room at Sauna Mania
Now let’s talk about the part of Sauna Mania Bangkok that gets the most attention online.
If you search “sauna mania review” on Google, you’ll see some… less-than-glowing comments about the dark room area.
And honestly?
They’re not entirely wrong.
The dark room area definitely shows its age.
You’ll notice things like:
peeling paint
worn floors
exposed concrete in some places
It looks old.
But here’s the thing.
I kind of liked it.
The atmosphere actually adds to the experience. The dim lighting, red glow, and maze-like hallways give the place a slightly mysterious vibe.
Walking through the corridors feels like exploring some hidden underground space. It’s easy to get lost wandering through the different paths.
For some people, that slightly gritty aesthetic might be a turn-off.
For others, it’s part of the charm.
What the Crowd Is Like at Sauna Mania
When I arrived at 4:00 PM, the crowd was relatively quiet.
At that time the crowd mostly consisted of:
bear types
average body builds
a wide range of ages
But things changed quickly.
By 6:00 PM, the venue became noticeably busier.
That’s when more muscular and athletic guys started arriving, and the overall energy of the place increased quite a bit.
Body Types and Crowd Diversity
One thing I noticed was the diversity of body types.
You’ll see:
muscular guys
bigger gym-built guys
bears
average builds
The overall crowd composition during my visit looked roughly like this:
about 80% Asian
about 20% international visitors
Among the Asian crowd there was a good mix of nationalities, including:
Thai locals
Korean visitors
Taiwanese travelers
Chinese and Chinese-American visitors
So overall, the diversity was actually pretty good.
Are the Guys at Sauna Mania Picky?
One thing I did notice was that the crowd felt a little pickier compared to other saunas I’ve visited.
Even some of the more muscular guys seemed to be walking around for a while without interacting with anyone.
Of course, this is totally subjective.
My “scientific” method of measuring pickiness is basically:
“Are people talking to me or ignoring me?”
So take that observation with a grain of salt.
But generally speaking, the vibe felt slightly more selective compared to other Bangkok sauna spots.

Relaxation Areas
Sauna Mania wins when it comes to space.
The balconies offer:
more seating
more room to relax
a more outdoor atmosphere
However, the other sauna I mentioned has a more social layout, which makes it easier to casually chat with people.
So if you enjoy meeting new friends, that environment might feel more comfortable.
Dark Room Experience
When it comes to dark rooms, Sauna Mania definitely stands out.
The winding corridors and darker aesthetic create a much more immersive environment compared to the cleaner, more structured layout of other venues.
Some people will prefer the polished look.
Others will prefer the more adventurous feel of Sauna Mania.
Final Verdict: Is Sauna Mania Worth Visiting?
So after all that… is Sauna Mania Bangkok worth visiting?
Honestly, yes.
Despite its age, Sauna Mania remains one of the most popular Bangkok sauna destinations for a reason.
You’ll find:
plenty of visitors
diverse body types
good facilities
and a very unique atmosphere
